Biographie
Philippe Major is a postdoctoral fellow at the Institute for European Global Studies of the University of Basel. He has a PhD in Philosophy from National University of Singapore and an MA in History from National Taiwan University. Drawing resources from philosophy, intellectual history, sociology of philosophy, and discourse analysis, his work is situated in the fields of modern Chinese philosophy and modern Chinese intellectual history, with a focus on the issues of the politics of tradition and antitradition, textual authority, and epistemic hegemony. His first monograph, entitled Confucian Iconoclasm: Textual Authority, Modern Confucianism, and the Politics of Antitradition in Republican China has been accepted for publication with State University of New York Press.
