Professor Daria Berg, DPhil Oxford in Chinese Studies (University of Oxford), is a scholar, writer and artist. She is the first Chair Professor (Ordinaria) of Chinese Culture and Society at the University of St.Gallen (HSG), Switzerland, and Head of the Centre for Intercultural Competence at the St. Gallen Institute of Management in Asia (SGI-HSG) in Singapore.
Daria Berg studied Sinology (Chinese Studies) with Japanese Studies and English Literature at Ludwig-Maximilians-University Munich. She studied modern and classical Chinese at Fudan University Shanghai and Fu-Jen University Taipei and modern Japanese at International Christian University, Tokyo. She carried out research in Chinese Studies at the Universities of Oxford and Kyoto, and received her Doctorate in Chinese Studies from the University of Oxford. She has published extensively on Chinese literature and culture in China past and present and received prizes for her books on China.
